Free icecreams in the Roman Parks

Saturday 23rd May and Sunday 24th May , the Protezione Civile, will be distributing bottles of water and millions of free icecreams in the Roman historical Parks!  All given by private sponsors to help whoever is in Rome with the heatwave.

Farinata of chick peas

 
This ‘pancake’ of chick pea flour goes back to Greek and Roman times when the soldiers prepared a dough made from chickpea flour and water and then cooked over their shield under the sun. A quick and cheap lunch on the road.300gr chickpea flour

3 tbspn virgin olive oil

Pan baked flan of zucchini with tomatoe sauce

300gr zucchini cut in thin rounds
3 small onions cut in rounds
butter & olive oil for sauté
30gr flour
1 cup milk
2 eggs
basil, s & p.
Sautée onions and zucchini in the butter/olive oil mixture. When ready add the flour and mix.  Then add the milk, s & p and cook slowly for 8′ on low fire as you [...]

Cucumber rounds filled with mozarella and pepperone

Buy firm large cucumbers and peel, cut into rounds of about 2cm high and set aside.Filling:- 1/2 red and 1/2 yellow pepper and 1 red onion all cut into tiny pieces.
1 firm small mozarella cut into tiiny peaces,,
Marinate alltogether with olive oil & s & p & basil.

Chocolate and Almond cake

75gr butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs Separated
1 cup plain flour
½ cup almond flour (or walnut)
½ cup muesli with dried berries
2 tbsn baking powder
125gr bittersweet chocolate

Rejuvelac recipe

REJUVELAC RECIPE
1 cup of wheat grains, from a health food store.( I use spelt)
2 litres of water.
2 litre wide mouthed jar.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Add the wheat grains to then jar. Fill with water and cover with gauze, held securely in place with an elastic band.
